POWER OF PRAYER

Some one said, "You will never get a busy signal on prayer line to heaven." Prayer is our direct line of intimate communication with the Creator. Prayer is talking to God. God wants us to talk to Him about everything that is going on in our lives. We can pray at any time and converse with God. Prayer is God's way for us to obtain what we need from Him (Luke 11:3-11).

James, an apostle and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ admonishes us, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."(James 5:16) and further He shows us Elijah , a great man of prayer, and a man subject to like passions as we are, He prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not on the land by the space of three and six months. He pleaded the Lord again. The Lord answers  his prayers and the heaven gave rain and earth produced its crops.

On one occasion D.L.Moody of Chicago needed six thousand dollars for the work they were doing in for the Moody Bible College. A group of believers along with him gathered in a room and put the matter in the presence of God and beseeched the Lord with faith, quoting the promise in John14:14, "If ye shall ask any thing in my name , I will do it."

After they completed their prayer there was a knock at the door. A man came and gave telegram. "Mr. Moody, we had a feeling, you need money for the work in Chicago. We have taken up a collection and there is six thousand dollars in the basket and more to follow."

It was said, the telegram came nearly from one thousand miles away. God answered their prayers. Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace to get mercy and find grace in time of need. The God who answered the prayers of Elijah and D.L.Moody will answer our prayers too. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for ever.
